Fund update | December 2016
A solid rebound in the unit price in December was insufficient to offset the challenging months of October and November, with the OC Premium Small Companies and the OC Dynamic Equity Funds finishing the December quarter down a disappointing 7.1% and 5.8%, respectively. This was behind both the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index, which finished down 2.5%, and the S&P/ASX Small Industrials Accumulation Index, which finished down 2.6%.
Despite the pull-back, the OC Premium Small Companies and the OC Dynamic Equity Funds maintain excellent long-term performance track records, having returned 18.2% p.a. and 20.5% p.a., respectively, over five years.
Conversely, in a tough environment for micro-cap stocks, OC's recently launched OC Micro-Cap Fund outperformed its benchmark for the December quarter, finishing down 5.3% versus the S&P/ASX Emerging Companies Index finishing down 6.1%.
We have now entered the ‘black-out’ period between the end of December and the February reporting season and as such, limited stock-specific news is typically released in the month of January.
